The opening session included speeches by Soumodip Sarkar, Executive President of PACT, Aníbal Costa, Vice-President of CCDR Alentejo, and Sara Carrasqueiro. Vice-President of IAPMEI.
After the presentations of the status of the Mobilizing Agendas, the event was closed by Pedro Dominguinhos, President of the National Monitoring Committee of the RRP, who had the opportunity to ascertain the main difficulties experienced by the consortia and was available for closer contact, within the scope of joint work.
In his speech, Pedro Dominguinhos highlighted the importance of the funds from the RRP: “If it were not for the RRP, either the investment would not be made or it would be made much more slowly”. The President of the National Monitoring Committee of the RRP recalled that “the RRP is allowing the payment of higher salaries”, thus meeting the expectations of highly qualified human resources, national and foreign, who are invited to settle away from large urban centres, such as the Alentejo, where the work is being carried out and the funds allocated to the region’s Mobilising Agendas are being applied. In terms of the impact of RRP investments on the design of the strategy of the Portuguese economy, Pedro Dominguinhos says that “we are in the presence, in many cases, of new economic sectors that did not exist in Portugal or that will have an international projection”, which deserves greater confidence in companies and illustrates that they “are capable of responding” to the challenge of creating “innovative projects, in articulation between the entities of the scientific system and companies”.
For Soumodip Sarkar, this event “promotes a more effective execution of projects, through the sharing of experiences, opportunities and challenges by the various partners, in addition to strengthening relations between the leading entities and entities co-promoting the Mobilizing Agendas with the national bodies with responsibility for the management of the RRP”. The Executive President of PACT states that the entity is “aware of its role in the development of the region” and in this sense, together with CCDR Alentejo, intends to “continue to follow this theme and hold a 3rd edition of the event in the future”.
In addition to presenting to the community the impact that PRR investments are having in Alentejo, the 2nd edition of the “Mobilizing Agendas in Alentejo” was also an occasion to explore synergies between the more than 120 participants (including agenda leaders, agenda co-promoting entities, representatives of municipalities and representatives of regional agents) due to the moment of networking and coffee break, During which it was also possible to analyze the 32 posters on display that gave an account of the main characteristics of each agenda.
