PACT LAUNCHES QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANALYZE OPEN INNOVATION IN EUROACE’S BUSINESS FABRIC, WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE DRIVEN PROJECT

5 March 2024

As a consortium member of the DRIVEN project – Open Innovation Driven Economy (Interreg POCTEP 2021-2027), PACT developed a questionnaire with the aim of identifying Open Innovation practices carried out in EUROACE – a euroregion consisting of Central Portugal, Alentejo and Spanish Extremadura.

As the objective of the DRIVEN project is to promote a culture of open innovation in the business fabric of EUROACE, which allows the exchange of knowledge and experiences, improving the results of companies throughout their R+D+i management cycle, acceleration of scientific and technological initiatives, strategic alliances and internationalization, this survey aims to understand the state of open innovation practices in this territory.

Open innovation, the practice of collaborating with external entities (customers, suppliers, R&D infrastructures, startups, among others) to co-create value with the development of new ideas, products, technologies or services, has become essential for business success. As organizations face a range of challenges, they will need to harness the potential of open innovation to shorten organizational response time and capitalize on future opportunities.

The questionnaire “Open Innovation at EUROACE” is aimed at all entities operating in the territory, including companies, start-ups, government entities, entities of the Scientific and Technological System, such as Research Centers and Collaborative Laboratories, among others, namely professionals who are directly involved in innovation strategies, and is available here. The form will be collecting responses until April 30 and should only be answered once per company.

In addition to allowing the analysis of the open innovation processes already existing between these entities, it will enable the identification of challenges felt in these relationships of collaboration and co-creation, of transfer of knowledge, technology and innovations between entities, and also the understanding of the needs and interests demonstrated by these entities and their integration in the project’s actions.

In terms of actions, DRIVEN provides for the promotion of networking and collaboration events, the creation and promotion of an innovation platform that will facilitate collaboration and the sharing of ideas, namely the launch of challenges (previously diagnosed) in an open format to attract external contributions to the problem-solving process with the respective presentation of solutions and, for these, support in pre-acceleration, incubation and acceleration programs.

In addition, awareness-raising and training actions will support entities in the management of open innovation practices, partnerships and in the capitalization of Intellectual and Industrial Property innovation.

Participants in the questionnaire who indicate their interest in participating in these activities will subsequently be notified at the time of these activities and will also have access to the results of the survey that will be made publicly available.

DRIVEN is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund ERDF through the Interreg V-A España-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2021-2027.
