PROJECT “EWASTER”, LED BY PACT, is approved by the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme
25 January 2024
On November 21, 2023, the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Euro-MED Program approved 56 projects. More details available at https://interreg-euro-med.eu/en/call-2-the-final-results-are-out/
The list of approved applications includes the project “eWAsTER – Preventing e-waste from polluting MED water by turning waste into a resource”.
eWaster aims to promote local and regional policies for better management of electronic waste, reduce the environmental damage caused by this waste in the areas involved and, at the same time, promote new innovative eco-business models based on the conversion of the electricity and electronics (E&E) sector, currently linear, into a sustainable circular model.
The unification of waste management criteria in the transnational MED space is essential, as it could make it difficult to boost the illegal movement of electronic waste from areas with stricter regulations to areas with more permissive regulations. To curb this threat, common planning and coordinated trade promotion need to be considered.
The eWaster, led by PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park, brings together 11 partners and 14 associates, in tandem of technical and political bodies, covering 6 Member States of the European Union (EU) E and 1 country of the 1 beneficiary country of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA):

Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities (Bulgaria)
Union of the Municipalities Pian del Bruscolo (Italy)Provincial Waste Consortium of Malaga (Spain)
