PACT sees project approved in EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative tender

3 December 2024

AIRA is one of the 15 winning consortia of the Call for Applications for Training Projects 2024

The AIRA – AI in Robotics Academy project was selected as one of the winners of the Call for Training Applications 2024 of the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative. The EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative is a project of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and is funded by the European Commission. This recognition highlights our commitment to promoting deep tech education and capacity building in Europe.

The Call for Training Applications invited organizations to create innovative courses, training, and skills development programs with the aim of empowering individuals with deep tech expertise. Applications had to focus on one of the following key areas: Advanced Computing and Quantum Computing, Advanced Materials, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Robotics, Semiconductors, Green Technologies, or Immersive Technologies. The purpose of the Call was to engage a diverse set of organizations committed to promoting deep tech education, fostering collaboration within the deep tech ecosystem, and developing a skilled and inclusive workforce.

This year, 97 consortia, representing multiple organisations from across Europe, participated in the Call for Proposals. As a result, 15 projects were selected and received a total funding of €2,203,391.50 to create and deliver their training and skills development programs.

AIRA – AI in Robotics Academy was presented in consortium with PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park, and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, and focuses on deep tech training in the application of artificial intelligence to robotics. Through this collaborative approach, we aim to drive innovation and create a long-term impact on the European deep tech ecosystem.

“As a member of EIT Deep Tech Talent, PACT is committed to the goal of training European talent in emerging technologies to position Europe as a pillar of digital innovation. In this project, we worked with the University of Ljubljana, prestigious in its faculty of mechanical engineering. With this partnership for the teaching of deep tech, we want to contribute to the training of the Alentejo in artificial intelligence and robotics, as PACT has already been doing over the years.”, says Soumodip Sarkar, Executive President of PACT.

The project started on October 14 and aims to train 500 individuals by November 2025. Under this call, the project received funding equivalent to €134 454.02 to create and deliver this training.
