PACT moves forward with a carbon-neutral energy community in Alentejo
26/03/2026
On March 24th, PACT began the implementation of an energy community with a neutral carbon footprint, to be installed in its ecosystem, reinforcing its sustainability and energy transition strategy.
The project includes the production of photovoltaic energy, its storage in batteries and its distribution through an entirely clean energy circuit. This solution will ensure the energy self-sufficiency of the entire PACT complex.
In addition, the creation of a Renewable Energy Community (REC) is planned, which will enable the sharing of energy between different users and the supply of infrastructure, including charging points for electric vehicles.
The contract for the acquisition and installation of the equipment, as well as for the implementation of solutions associated with electric mobility and services, was signed between the Board of Directors of PACT, represented by Professor Soumodip Sarkar and Professor Ausenda Balbino, and the company CME – Construção e Manutenção Electromecânica.
With this investment, PACT consolidates its position as an active agent in promoting sustainable practices and accelerating the transition to a more efficient and environmentally responsible energy model.
This initiative is part of the NGS – New Generation Storage mobilizing agenda, funded by the RRP and the European Next Generation EU funds.
