PACT strengthens digital skills of SMEs at EUROACE with the CapabiliTIC project

On March 25th, the kick-off meeting of CapabiliTIC, the new cross-border project that PACT integrates as a co-promoter, was held. The moment brought together partners from Portugal and Spain, including universities, business associations and research centres, at the premises of the lead beneficiary, the Chamber of Commerce of Badajoz, with the aim of starting the work to strengthen the digital skills of SMEs at EUROACE.
With an eligible investment of around 933 thousand euros, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027, CapabiliTIC aims to strengthen digital skills and promote the use of strategic ICT tools, such as cloud, artificial intelligence and big data, in companies in the region, contributing to business competitiveness and territorial cohesion. To this end, the focus will be on practical actions such as training and capacity building, personalized advice and the creation of an online platform with useful digital resources and tools for companies and citizens.
The project follows the definition of digitalization as one of the priorities for SMEs in the EUROACE Euroregion – Alentejo, Center of Portugal and Spanish Extremadura, by the EUROACE 2030 Strategy. According to Eurostat data, almost half of these companies have a low level of digital intensity, and most of the companies that have adopted ICT in any of the mentioned niches are large.
A significant impact is expected on the business fabric of the Euroregion, and it is expected that, over its 36 months of implementation, around 200 companies will benefit from direct support and approximately 300 users will have access to information and digital resources.
By promoting capacity building and the adoption of digital technologies, the project contributes to a more innovative, competitive EUROACE prepared for the challenges of the digital economy.
The participation of PACT reinforces the commitment to the sustainable development of the region, promoting a more innovative, competitive economy prepared for the challenges of digital transformation, while strengthening inter-regional cooperation.
