PACT and eWAsTER consortium meet in Greece to boost European sustainability in WEEE management

23/04/2026

From April 21st to 22nd, PACT participated in the 5th Validation Workshop of the eWAsTER project, in which it is the leader.

Soumodip Sarkar, Executive Chairman of PACT, was received by the Municipality of Rethymno, a project partner, in Crete, Greece, where he met with the consortium partners and local authorities.

At the meeting, the results of the pilot tests, developed during 2025 and their respective contributions, were presented:

  • REUSE: Recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment through its integration into new products and empowering socially disadvantaged population to work in the life cycle of WEEE;
  • SEEK: Introduction of circular economy practices to regions and municipalities through sustainability rules and WEEE donation and exchange programs between municipalities, schools and individuals;
  • BEHAVE: Creation of recreational activities in schools around WEEE, developed in cooperation with municipalities, contributing to the increase in the collection rate of this waste.

In addition, work has begun on the WEEE Solutions Transfer Guide, a document that will bring together valuable practical guidance for other countries in Europe in terms of replicating international solutions, offering practical tools, recommendations for the selection of solutions suitable for specific needs, tested and documented best practices, as well as indicators for transnational cooperation and coordination.

Until its completion, the project also foresees the completion of the Mediterranean Methodology, a document that aims to collect the solutions to promote better WEEE management analysed during the project, and the validation of the Local Action Plans, prepared by each region to respond to the most relevant territorial challenges around the life cycle of WEEE.

The eWAsTER project  is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Euro-MED 2021–2027 Programme.
