The event brought together leaders from Portugal and Spain to discuss the impact of AI, robotics and virtual reality on science, business and society

PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park hosted the XVIII Iberian Meeting of Science and Technology Parks, which took place on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, under the theme “New Immersive Worlds”. The event brought together in Évora the main heads of science and technology parks in Portugal and Spain, members of TecParques (Portuguese Association of Science and Technology Parks) and APTE (Asociación de Parques Científicas y Tecnológicos de España).

Under the theme “New Immersive Worlds”, leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs discussed the role of artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality and Web3.0 in the transformation of scientific and business ecosystems.

The program included lectures, debates and round tables, which included representatives and partners from Iberian technology parks and international experts, as well as pitches of innovative projects linked to the xBoost acceleration program, promoted by PACT within the scope of the eGames Lab project, highlighting practical applications of immersive technologies.

In addition to technical visits to companies in the region, the event was marked by cultural moments, such as Cante Alentejano and a visit to the historic center of Évora, which reinforced the connection between innovation, culture and territory, underlining the role of PACT as more than a business center – a true hub of collaboration and regional development.

The meeting reinforced the importance of science and technology parks as agents of connection between research, industry and society, as well as catalysts for digital transformation, knowledge transfer and sustainable development, and made clear the role of the country, and in particular the Alentejo region, in the strategic connection between Portugal and Spain.
