The Aero.Next Portugal Agenda aims to strengthen Portugal’s position in the aeronautical value chain and consolidate the cluster associated with it through complete, complex and high value-added products. To this end, it will ensure Portugal’s dominance throughout the design, development, industrialization and commercialization phases, making the country a relevant decision-making center in aeronautics, reducing its dependence on the outside world and triggering strong knock-on effects on the national economy. To this end, it brings together a wide range of entities with strong and complementary skills for the development of the aeronautical ecosystem, with a view to promoting innovation, based on a strong knowledge of the market and on the paradigms of Digital Transition and Climate Transition. It maximises existing assets in the country and promotes investment in more than one NUTS2, highlighting the case of Alentejo, with positive impacts on territorial cohesion.
Main objective: Aero.Next Portugal proposes to accelerate industrialization in a sector characterized by the offer of complex products, to be able to maximize the generation of value appropriation by the country, consolidating, developing and expanding the Portuguese aeronautical cluster, which will progress in the value chain with new manned and unmanned aircraft systems, specializing the respective value chains and able to look at new state-of-the-art carbon neutral subsystems and focus on disruptive operating models based on service logics. This has resulted in a more resilient and robust aeronautical sector, which, through the incorporation of R&D, provides the offer of new products, with high national incorporation. The promoters focus their investments on the Alentejo Region as a priority, promoting a strong impact on the creation of qualified and lasting employment in the Beja, Évora and Ponte de Sor axis. It is Aero.Next Portugal’s goal to place certifiable products on the market in 2025. State-of-the-art, complete and complex products that will be conceived, developed and demonstrated, requiring a large amount of engineering capacity. The evolution of the drone and aircraft is also expected beyond 2025. Hence the high importance of investments in RDI, which also reflects the concern to adapt the Agenda to the reality of the aeronautical industry currently installed in Portugal, providing only for the productive investments necessary to fill processes that currently do not exist in the sector, thus resulting in a lower weight of these.
