Description

H2tALENT captures, fosters and enhances hydrogen-related talent (people, projects and products) in Alentejo, placing this region as a leader and recognized center of green hydrogen. H2tALENT aims to launch a flagship Hydrogen Valley to consolidate the strong investment on site, encourage and boost hydrogen ecosystems in the Alentejo, through the implementation of new green hydrogen initiatives across the value chain, from local production to use, including distribution for a range of applications for industry, mobility and buildings, while also aiming to connect to existing/planned infrastructure and initiatives.

As a consequence of this project, in the next 5 years, 2.1 GW of electrolyzers, 180 ktons/year of green H2, 2 billion euros of investments and 5000 jobs in the Alentejo are planned.

Optimal integration of the energy system is ensured through technology assessment and impact modelling to contribute to the energy transition in Portugal. Digital Twinning for optimised planning and operation is provided to support scale-up and replication, while improving professional skills and public perception equip the workforce with the necessary skills and provide societal benefits. H2tALENT builds a global network where lessons learned from existing valleys are gathered, cooperation with Brazil is fostered, and replication is promoted in 2 follower valleys in Saxony and the UK Midlands.

PACT, as the leader of WP6, has the following functions:

To promote the expansion of the Hydrogen Valley in Sines, Alentejo and throughout the country, its replication in other areas by leveraging vouchers in Germany and the United Kingdom.
To foster an extensive network of stakeholders and replicators who benefit from skilled labor and public acceptance and education.
