Problematic: Olive oil production generates large volumes of organic surplus, such as olive pomace, leaves and pruning waste, which, without efficient management and disposal processes, can have a negative environmental impact. The olive oil sector needs innovative solutions to turn this waste into valuable resources, promoting a circular bioeconomy and reducing the pressure on natural resources.
Objective: INOVCIRCOLIVE makes the most of surpluses from olive oil production, transforming them into organic fertilisers and other value-added products. The project promotes sustainability in the agricultural sector, encouraging circular economy practices and the efficient utilisation of natural resources.
Key Activities: To promote the adoption of sustainable practices and involve producers, INOVCIRCOLIVE characterises the composting of surplus materials, tests fertilisers on different crops and monitors their impacts. It also develops substrates for nurseries and assesses the presence of beneficial microorganisms.
