Description

Problematic:

The EUROACE Strategy 2030 identifies digitalisation as one of the main challenges facing the Euroregion, particularly for SMEs, which represent 99.4% of companies in the territory. Nearly half of them present a low level of digital intensity, and most companies that have adopted ICT in any of the mentioned niches are large enterprises (Eurostat, 2023).
This digital gap constitutes the main motivation for CapabiliTIC, which aims to improve digital skills and increase the use of ICT among SMEs and micro-enterprises in the EUROACE through cross-border cooperation and innovative actions in research, training, capacity-building and advisory support.

Objective:

The overall objective of the CapabiliTIC project is to improve digital skills and increase the use of ICT among SMEs and micro-enterprises in the EUROACE through actions in research, capacity-building, advisory services and dissemination of results.
This increase in digital capacities, based on raising awareness of the benefits and applications of smart tools within key ICT niches (cloud computing, artificial intelligence and big data), will contribute to greater digitalisation in the business sector and, consequently, across the three regions that make up the cooperation area.

Key Activities:

  • Needs analysis: identification and assessment of the main needs related to digitalisation and ICT use among SMEs and micro-enterprises in the EUROACE;
  • Capacity-building programme: development of a training programme, including a training manual, with the implementation of training actions and individual ICT advisory services to support the effective adoption of digital technologies by SMEs;
  • CapabiliTIC platform: creation of an online platform with a catalogue of ICT tools aimed at encouraging their use by companies in the EUROACE;
  • Project sustainability: evaluation of results, preparation of a sustainability plan and organisation of a “showcase” event to disseminate results and ensure long-term impact;
  • Communication and dissemination: promotion of the project through different communication channels and tools in order to maximise its reach among companies and other stakeholders.

Results:

Strengthening the digitalisation of SMEs through awareness-raising actions on the strategic value of ICT, complemented by the provision of capacity-building resources and access to specialised information through the CapabiliTIC platform. It is estimated that 200 companies will benefit from direct support through the project’s activities and that around 300 EUROACE users will enjoy improved access to information and digital resources.
