Comfort tests show that healthcare professionals prefer uniforms with TorTex

In the 2019 edition of the Bridgehead Europe program, promoted by EIT Health, PACT was part of a consortium composed of BGI, BioCant and TecLabs, with the aim of leveraging the expansion of the Swedish startup HealthTextiles to the Portuguese market.
This company proposes to revolutionize the uniforms used by health professionals, presenting an alternative to cotton and polyester: TorTex, a fabric that has antibacterial and antiviral properties (H1N1) already duly proven by the world certification institutions SGS and Hohenstein.
Comfort is another of the characteristics pointed out as a strong point of this clothing line, a factor that was evaluated within the scope of the Bridgehead program, in order to understand the receptivity of health professionals in relation to this value proposition.
Promoted by the consortium, during the month of November, comfort tests were carried out at the Archbishop João Crisóstomo Hospital, in Cantanhede, and at the Domus Vida Parede nursing homes, belonging to the José de Mello Group, where the uniforms were tested by 43 professionals from all areas of health – nurses, doctors, psychologists, operational assistants and therapeutic technicians.
The results, revealed by HealthTextiles on February 18, demonstrate that these uniforms not only passed the test, but did so with flying colors: 73% of healthcare professionals surveyed preferred uniforms with TorTex fabric, compared to their current cotton/polyester uniforms. In this context, HealthTextiles’ value proposition gains robustness and assumes itself as an alternative to the uniforms currently used by Portuguese health professionals.
