International Conference “SMART CITIES, SMART FUTURE?” challenges the community to reflect on the cities of the future

Évora Capital of smart cities on March 23rd and 24th

On March 23rd and 24th, PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park, hosts the International Conference “Smart Cities, Smart Future?”. During the two days of the conference, 20 national and five international experts will talk about topics related to smart cities, specifically: smart and sustainable mobility, smart city design, financing of smart projects, artificial intelligence, among others.

The event, organized by PACT and ADRAL, Alentejo Regional Development Agency, wants to explore the concept of smart cities, covering topics such as mobility, digitalization and digital humanism, as well as discuss the smart future of cities and low-density regions such as Alentejo. It will be a moment of meeting between specialists, entrepreneurs, students and the community, who will have the opportunity to attend lectures with renowned speakers, get to know new realities and organizations in addition to networking.

The event is free and will take place at PACT’s facilities in Évora, requiring mandatory registration.

The International Conference is moderated by Vitor Pereira (Zoom Global Smart Cities) and has the participation of personalities such as Khaliq Parkar (University of Paris Cité), Pedro Baganha (Councillor for Urbanism, Public Space and Housing, Porto City Council), Nikiforos Tsiouris, Alexandra Prinz (Expert on digital humanism in the Office of the CIO of the City of Vienna) and Miguel de Castro Neto (Director of NOVA IMS, Coordinator of NOVA Cidade).

The International event “Smart Cities, Smart Future?” is part of the Startup LABWARE project, which aims to transform culturally and historically protected areas into more sustainable places, which will bring improvements in the quality of life of citizens. The Startup LABWARE project is co-financed by the European Union, under the collective action support system (SIAC) of the Alentejo 2020 Regional Operational Program.
