PACT leads European training in Artificial Intelligence applied to Robotics

1st of August of 2025

PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park has just launched, in collaboration with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, an advanced and free course in Artificial Intelligence applied to Robotics. Entitled AIRA – Artificial Intelligence in Robotics Academy, this training is aimed at students and professionals in the technology sector who want to deepen their knowledge of emerging technologies.

The initiative is part of PACT’s strategy to promote advanced technological skills and strengthen capacity building in areas considered strategic for regional and national development.

With 30 hours of asynchronous classes available online on a permanent basis, the course allows flexible learning at the pace of each participant. The training is validated by the EIT Deep Tech Talent initiative  and confers a certificate issued by the University of Ljubljana.

The syllabus includes the main concepts and practical applications of AI and machine learning in robotic systems, covering areas such as computer vision, natural language processing, motion planning, sensors and actuators, kinematics, dynamics and robot control. Throughout the training course, participants are challenged to solve real problems, develop practical projects and reflect on responsible innovation.

The classes are taught by Rok Vrabič, assistant professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana and researcher in international robotics, artificial intelligence and digital twin projects. With more than 1000 scientific citations, Professor Vrabič currently leads projects in the field of medical robotics, logistics and space exploration.

The AIRA project  aims to empower highly skilled talent at the intersection of artificial intelligence and robotics and reduce gender inequalities in technological areas. The project aims to train 500 people by November 2025, ensuring that at least 35% of participants are women, and contribute to their integration into highly specialized labor markets, while encouraging technological entrepreneurship.

The training is already available free of charge through the PACT online platform. More information here and registration in moodlepact.pt

The AIRA project is part of the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative, led by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
