PACT leads sustainable national transformation and has already been honoured with an international award
16/09/2025
PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park received the Annual Responsible Award, awarded by the Association of Supply Chain Professionals (ASCP), for the development of a community-based clean energy supply chain that it has installed in its ecosystem and that will allow it to achieve carbon neutrality in its buildings by January 2026.
This action is part of the integrated strategy that PACT has been developing in the area of Circular Economy, and which is aligned with European and national sustainability objectives. Through the active participation and leadership in European and national projects such as eWaster, CircularTech, NGS and INOVCIRCOLIVE, which cover the recovery of waste, energy storage in batteries, digitalized recycling chains and renewable energy communities, and the encouragement of the regional business community to adopt greener and more sustainable business models, PACT presents itself as an engine regional sustainable innovation strategy, leading the most comprehensive transformation of Portugal’s decarbonization strategies.
The PRR Mobilizing Agenda “NGS – New Generation Storage” is a strong contribution to the implementation of this strategy, through a photovoltaic solar energy production system with an installed capacity of 1.2 MWhp and an estimated annual production of 1.8 GWh that avoids the emission of 160 tCO2eq. This energy will not only meet the needs of the entire 9000 m² PACT complex, but also contribute to the creation of a Renewable Energy Community (REC), through a battery storage system, which will also serve to supply charging points for electric vehicles. The project represents a paradigm shift in local energy supply chains, reducing operating costs and emissions for PACT partner companies and strengthening regional energy sovereignty, in taking the lead in decarbonization strategies in Alentejo.
With this award, ASCP intends to honor the work of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the private sector, in the field of Sustainable and Green Supply Chain, which are promoting a significant impact on the day-to-day life of companies and society, with alignment with one or more SDGs.
Applications were evaluated by a team of experts, from academia and industry. ASCP is an Indian entity dedicated to the promotion of good management practices in the supply chain and logistics, as well as to the support of professionals and academics, facilitating synergies and enhancing knowledge in the area.
The award ceremony took place on September 12 at the Annual India Supply Chain Conference, in Mumbai, as part of the 2nd edition of the ASCP Responsible Chain Awards.
