Innovation, technology and state-of-the-art equipment to serve the community
During the afternoon of April 29th, Gaming inPACT was held, an event that marks the inauguration of the New Immersive Rooms of PACT – Alentejo Science and Technology Park.

The new immersive rooms are an initiative of the eGames Lab project and financed by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan, and by the European Next Generation EU Funds, with an investment of 130 thousand euros in highly technological equipment, available to companies in the PACT ecosystem and to the community and students of Alentejo.

The space consists of two rooms, one of which is the Collaborative Laboratory, equipped with high-performance computers and virtual reality glasses, which allows for an immersive experience. The other is the Room of the Future, which also offers an immersive experience through several high-quality panels, positioned together, creating a giant screen from one end of the room to the other, with an interactive central table.

The influencer, Kika Cardoso, host of the event, welcomed all the guests and reinforced the importance of the PACT initiative, “immersive rooms like these have a great impact on the lives of those who want to pursue a career in this area and do not have the possibility of purchasing equipment of this level”.

Next, Soumodip Sarkar, Executive President of PACT, detailed how the “out-of-the-box idea” for immersive rooms came about and pointed out the efforts made to involve young people in PACT initiatives and develop new forms of knowledge transfer.

The unveiling of the plaque and the inauguration of the space were made by António Ceia da Silva, President of CCDR Alentejo, who made a brief speech of thanks. “I thank you for the enormous work that PACT has done for the Alentejo” and added, “another great initiative that reinforces the connection between academia and companies, between technological research and those who can bring added value to our territory”. Also present at the event were Ausenda Balbino, Vice-President of PACT, and António Serrano, Member of the Board of Directors and CEO of Jerónimo Martins Agro-Alimentar.

All participants had the opportunity to try out the equipment in both immersive rooms and then enjoyed a moment of networking.

The Immersive Rooms will soon be available for the entire community to use by appointment.
