Workshop: Transition to the Circular Economy

18 October 2022

In order to empower the business fabric for the transition to the Circular Economy, PACT organizes, on October 27, at 5:00 pm, the online workshop “Transition to the Circular Economy”. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory. You can sign up here to receive a reminder for the session and to ensure that you have the opportunity to answer your questions.

The current economic model translates into an economy of extraction, production, use and disposal. The consequences of using this linear model are vast and present various risks for companies, such as resource scarcity, which in extreme cases can lead to the blockage of supply chains, decreased competitiveness and, on a large scale, the acceleration of climate change.

In this way, it is essential that we start developing a transition process to the Circular Economy, where products remain in circulation for as long as possible, minimizing the amount of waste discarded by closing the material and energy cycles. Thus, we will be able not only to reduce disposal, but also to guarantee the existence of raw materials, avoiding large price fluctuations in obtaining them. In addition, business competitiveness and sustainable marketing will also be favoured.

This training will address various perspectives of valuing and boosting circular business models, methodologies for measuring the level of circularity of companies and reporting circular indicators.

Contents:

Why circularity? (concepts, butterfly diagram, Circular Economy design, how to implement it and advantages);
How to measure circularity?

(reasons for measuring circularity, circularity tools and indicators);
How to report circularity? (methodology for the preparation of reports and GRI Methodology – Global Reporting Initiative).

The workshop will be directed by Joana Capela Pires, Project Manager in Circular Economy at PACT and Maria Emília Perestrelo, consultant in this area.

This initiative is carried out under the LOCALCIR Project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the INTERREG VA ESPAÑA PORTUGAL program.
